Farm Bill
Farm Bill
As Chairman of the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee, I believe it is imperative to our national security that we have an abundant, nutritious and reliable source of domestically produced food.
The Farm Bill is an omnibus, multi-year bill that legislates policies for the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and authorizes programs for farmers, food and nutrition aid, conservation initiatives, agriculture trade and marketing programs, and rural development assistance.
Farming and ranching are two of the most unpredictable occupations in the world. The health of our rural communities and our national economy depends on the viability of our agricultural sector. The Farm Bill must provide a safety net for farmers and ranchers that is adequate, equitable, and dependable. The Farm Bill and its programs must also be responsible to taxpayers and consumers.
To that end, I will continue to work for strong, responsible agriculture policy for Kansas and the rest of the nation.
