Disease Research and Funding

Disease Research and Funding

As a member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee, I have a deep interest in health research and funding. Through past investments in federal programs like the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), we have made great strides in better identifying and treating numerous diseases and conditions. I am a strong supporter of increased investment in our nation's research effort to improve health and save lives.

Thanks to NIH research, new vaccines, pharmaceuticals, diagnostic tools, and other treatments that have been developed, and a thriving biomedical research industry, we continue to make important breakthroughs in medical care.

I am also working closely with our Kansas universities' researchers in their efforts to conduct health care related research. This research will help improve, and even save, the lives of Kansans and all Americans.
