Tax Reform Continues to Benefit Kansans
We continue to see the benefits of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act around the state and the nation. I recently toured the new UPS expansion in Lenexa, where they stressed the importance of the tax reform bill and how it will allow them to continue to expand, innovate, grow jobs, and continue to hire new employees. I was so proud to see firsthand this bill at work and how UPS is adapting to a dynamic, growing & vibrant economy.
In addition to UPS, Tyson Foods announced big bonuses for its frontline employee as a result of savings from tax reform. Kansans all over the states are benefitting from this law, and I look forward to more good news ahead.
Improving Care for Dialysis Patients
Rep. Lynn Jenkins and I visited the DaVita Wanamaker Dialysis Clinic in Topeka, which is finally opening to Medicare patients after our bill to streamline the accreditation process was signed into law. Medicare patients have not been able to use this facility for two years due to unnecessary regulation and backlog. However, with our bill, Medicare patients, which make up a large portion of dialysis patients, can finally have access to facilities much closer to home. Thank you to DaVita for allowing us to meet with these patients who now have easier access to this live-saving care and an improved quality of life.
Giving a Farm Bill Update at the Western Farm Show
Missouri Rep. Vicki Hartzler and I participated in a panel at the Western Farm Show at the American Royal in Kansas City to give an update on the farm bill, talk trade, and answer questions about issues facing rural America. It was great to meet with farmers and ranchers in the area and hear what is on their minds.

I toured this new facility to see the impressive work they are doing and to learn more about their research to improve crop yields and soil nutrition. Read more on their work here.
Meeting with Kansas Disabled Veterans
It was an honor to meet with some amazing disabled veterans from around Kansas. I am so grateful for their service to our nation and the work they do to advocate for our nation’s disabled heroes.

Paying Respect to Billy Graham
The Rev. Dr. Billy Graham had a profound impact on the spiritualism of our nation, and his mark on our nation will last forever. We had the opportunity to pay our respects to his life and faithful service as he lied in honor at the U.S. Capitol last week. I worked with the Rev. Graham when I served as chief of staff to Senator Frank Carlson (R-Kan.) during the creation of the first National Prayer Breakfast. Conrad Hilton, Senator Carlson and Rev. Graham invited Kansan and President Dwight D. Eisenhower to attend. The National Prayer Breakfast continues today, largely due to the charisma of Billy Graham, and preserves the faith and fellowship of our nation's leaders. God Bless Rev. Graham and everyone who has been impacted by his faith.
