WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts today was named a “Champion of the Worker” by the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) for his perfect voting record on employment and workforce issues in the 113th Congress.
“I am honored to be a Champion of the Worker,” Senator Roberts said. “Each day in the Senate I am focused on creating jobs, growing our economy and enhancing economic opportunities for both employers and their employees. In Kansas, I am proud of my work on bringing the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility to Manhattan and my work on other life science initiatives. We are creating a new research based economy and new opportunities for generations of Kansans.”
Roberts’ voting record garnered a 100% rating according to CEI’s congressional scorecard on pro-worker issues including votes to increase employment, to create better incentives for workers, to support growth in workers’ incomes, and to improve worker freedom.
CEI senior fellow and labor expert Aloysius Hogan congratulated Senator Roberts for leading the way on labor and employment policies.
“Senator Roberts resisted all of the accounting gimmickry, unfunded government handouts that burden future workers, and additional federal mandates that put people’s jobs and economic well-being at risk. His voting record on labor issues in 2014 will benefit Kansans and Americans across the country.”
