Roberts and Moran Announce CRP Emergency Grazing and Haying Approved for 22 Kansas Counties

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Senator Pat Roberts (R-Kan.), Ranking Member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, and Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, today announced that Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) acreage is approved for an additional 22 Kansas counties for emergency grazing and haying.

“I am grateful USDA has taken additional steps to expand relief to those producers suffering from this severe drought and higher feed costs,” Roberts said.

“This is good news for producers all over the state, who may have been forced to sell their livestock due to a lack of adequate forage without this additional relief,” said Moran.

CRP emergency grazing acreage has been approved for an additional 16 counties: Butler, Chase, Chautauqua, Cherokee, Cowley, Elk, Greely, Greenwood, Labette, Lyon, Montgomery, Morris, Neosho, Sedgwick, Sumner, and Wilson Counties.

CRP emergency haying acreage has been approved for six additional counties: Elk, Ellsworth, Greenwood, Scott, Sumner, and Wilson Counties.

Those wishing to participate in emergency haying or grazing must contact the local FSA county office. For more information, click here.

The total number of counties approved for either emergency haying or grazing now stands at 56, making more than half the state of Kansas eligible for these emergency services.
